FAQ

How it Works

There are as many different methods for repairing vinyl, leather, and plastic as there are different types of automotive and marine interior upholsteries. Each of our technicians has a fully stocked truck with a huge variety of different materials so that we will have exactly what we need for your specific repair. Our materials are highly specialized, and most are not available for sale to the general public.

Vinyl Repair

We use a specially formulated vinyl polymer to repair cuts in vinyl. It applies like a gel, but sets with heat and bonds with the original materials. The polymer becomes vinyl, and is just as flexable and durable as the rest of the material. The process is not unlike welding. In order to recreate the texture, we take a silicon grain impression of the material, and use it to emboss the exact grain over the repaired area.

Leather Repair

What makes a leather seat different than suede or uncured cowhide is the application of dyes and coating that is done at the factory. Our materials are indistinguishable from the factory original. We have a number of flexible, sandable fillers that are specifically made for leather repair. We use these to fill any cracks or worn areas in your seat, then sand them smooth. We then apply a custom-matched color to your seat, using a special leather dye.

Plastic Repair

Using a combination of heat, plastic welding, and special industrial adhesives, we are able to repair hard plastic panels with an extremely high success rate. Each repair is different, and we use a number of different techniques, from reapplying textures to reinforcing structural damage with metal screens or fiberglass.

Why use a professional?

The vinyl repair process is very similar, at least in principle, to the one you may have seen advertised on late night infomercials. We jokingly encourage people to order the kits they sell on TV,and suggest they hold onto our phone number. Having a basic mail order repair kit doesn't make you any more qualified to repair vinyl than owning a scalpel and a set of scrubs makes you qualified to perform surgery. We get a lot of work fixing the botched attempts of do-it-yourselfers. What we do is very much an art, and all of our technicians have years of experience and training that allow them to make the highest quality repairs.

The repair is just the first part of the equation. The second is color matching. The over-the-counter spray paints that are available don't stick very well, and almost never match. Even if they were exactly the same as the original color in your vehicle, age, sun, dirt, and wear all cause colors to fade and change over time. We are capable of matching the color in your vehicle, exactly. No product out of a can could legitimately make that claim.

Most importantly, we offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with the repair we perform, you do not pay a dime. We also guarantee our repairs for as long as you or your customer own the vehicle.
